The RCMP executed search warrants at the home of former Calgary mayor Jyoti Gondek, seizing a cell phone as part of an ongoing investigation. Gondek says she has been fully cooperative, but called the process ‘very invasive,’ while Ward 10 councillor Andre Chabot says he was ‘completely surprised’ after his devices were also seized. Police say the probe stems from a complaint referred by Calgary Police Service in October 2025, but no details or charges have been disclosed. Adam MacVicar reports.

Prime Minister Mark Carney touted his government’s massive investment in defence and security Thursday, as NATO confirmed Canada has reached its two per cent spending target. Carney noted that it is the first time defence spending in Canada has reached this level since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
