The U.S. president doubled down on his threat today to source more potash from Belarus. The U.S. currently relies on potash from Saskatchewan for roughly 80 per cent of its agricultural needs — making it Canada’s largest customer. While stocks for Canadian companies like Nutrien fell yesterday, experts say Canada remains in a position of strength. For now, Belarus says its entire supply is already under contract to other customers. Heather Youerx-West explains why.
