Canadian Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon paid a visit to Kingston, Ont. on Monday to pitch the historic city as a potential stop on Alto’s upcoming high-speed-rail project across the country. Not included in the initial infrastructure proposal, MacKinnon said the government was “acting on what we heard” after demand from locals to involve Kingston. And amid concerns from farmers nationwide, MacKinnon vowed Alto will “proceed with extreme sensitivity” and have the “least possible impact” on landowners.
