Hurricane Beryl makes landfall in Caribbean as powerful Category 4 storm
Powerful Hurricane Beryl made landfall on the Caribbean island of Carriacou, Grenada on Monday. Fuelled by record warm waters, it became the earliest Category 4 storm to form in the Atlantic Ocean. Winds reaching nearly 150 mph (241 km/h), just below Category 5 strength, tore off roofs, uprooted trees and caused damage on Carriacou, and in other parts of the southeastern Caribbean.
