Catherine Garrett
Digital Broadcast Journalist
Catherine Garrett is a Digital Broadcast Journalist for Global BC and Anchors weekend afternoons on 980 CKNW.
Born in Kitchener, Ontario and raised in Daajing Giids, Haida Gwaii, they graduated in Broadcast and Online Journalism at BCIT’s in 2019 and was a Reporter and Anchor for Vista Radio in Prince George before joining the CKNW team in 2021.
They won a silver medal in the Best in Multi-Culturalism category at the 2023 Canadian Online Publishing Awards for her local coverage of the Russian war in Ukraine. Catherine was also a part of the team that won the B.C. Association of Broadcasters Excellence in News Reporting (Radio) for coverage of the November 2022 floods.
They have a passion for underdog stories, Northern B.C., and unsung heroes.
Catherine is a nationally ranked spoken word poet who enjoys cooking, weightlifting, and watching gymnastics. They are also a lifelong fan of the Vancouver Canucks.
