It’s the second fire at the Fleming House, as the heritage building sustained serious damage in a 2018 fire.

Crews were called to the 1400 block of Dilworth Drive around 3 a.m., on Wednesday, and arrived to find the heritage building already “fully involved.”

“Three engines, a command unit, a bush truck, a safety officer and 15 fire personnel were on scene,” Capt. Dennis Miller said in a news release.

The Fleming House was built in 1871 by Frederick Brent.

City officials say all buildings on the property are boarded up to prevent people from entering the buildings, and that the property is surrounded by fencing.

Nightly and daily patrols by bylaw officers are made at the heritage site, according to the city.
