Alberta election: Edmonton-South results

Global News projects incumbent NDP candidate Thomas Dang to win the seat in Edmonton-South.

Below is a full list of candidates in the new riding of Edmonton-South, a new riding which encompasses deep southwest Edmonton.

It includes a few neighbourhoods north of Anthony Henday Drive east of Rabbit Hill Road. South of the Henday the boundary stretches from 91 Street in the east to Whitemud Creek on the west, and south to Highway 19.

NDP MLA Thomas Dang, who currently represents the riding of Edmonton-South West, is running here. When elected in 2015, Dang was the youngest candidate in the running, at 20 years old.

History

This is a new riding as a result of boundary changes, made up of areas previously part of Edmonton-South West and smaller parts of Edmonton-Whitemud, Edmonton-Ellerslie and Leduc-Beaumont.

Dang was part of the 2015 orange crush, which saw the Alberta NDP stomp out a 44-year Progressive Conservative dynasty in the province.
