In it, Environment Canada warned a slow-moving low over B.C. was spreading snow into southern Alberta.

“Snow will gradually taper off over the foothills this afternoon with a further five centimetres expected. Snow in southeastern Alberta will taper off tonight with a further 10 centimetres forecast.”

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” Environment Canada warned.

Global Calgary meteorologist Jordan Witzel anticipates a high of just -11 C for Calgary on Friday with a low of -16 C overnight, followed by a high of -10 C on Saturday.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
