Kareem Gouda
Radio anchor / reporter
Kareem Gouda was first hired at Global in 2019 where he worked on the writer’s desk for the summer.
He then moved over to CityNews 1130 / CKWX where he anchored and produced for three years before winding up back at Global and CKNW where he now anchors the evening national radio program.
Kareem also writes for the website and has started doing live hits on Global News at 11.
His favourite part of the job is covering breaking news and adding to his skillset in broadcasting.
He also just loves talking with anyone whether or not he’s recording it.
Kareem was born and raised in Vancouver in a household full of news consumption.
News was always on the TV except when the power went out, in which case that’s when his parents’ multiple newspaper subscriptions came in handy.
Kareem wanted to be a journalist since he reported on the civics of recess when he was at Strathcona Elementary. He graduated from UBC in 2015 with a dual degree in Political Science and Philosophy with a minor in Linguistics.
He then went to BCIT for the Broadcasting and Online Journalism program. Since then, he has worked at Global, CKWX, CTV and has now returned to work at Global and CKNW in December of 2022.
Kareem’s hobbies include badminton, video games, urban exploration, traveling, trying new recipes and making people laugh.
