Londoners and visitors can register for a free parking pass anytime online.

Londoners will no longer need a pass for overnight parking from Apr. 30 to Nov. 1, according to the city.

Committee members voted 6-0 on Tuesday to recommend banning overnight on-street parking for a shorter time period, from the start of November to the end of April. 

The city says drivers could be fined $35 and their vehicle may be towed if it is illegally parked.

The civic works committee will consider several changes to the city's parking bylaws, including altering the overnight park ban that's currently in place from September until May.

The overnight parking restrictions for personal vehicles will come back into place after the Labour Day long weekend.

The overnight parking offer does not apply to privately owned companies who run lots in the city or to on-street parking.

According to a news release issued Wednesday morning, the city has declared a "winter maintenance event," restricting on-street parking overnight to allow for snow removal.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 4, drivers will need to register their vehicles for overnight parking as a city restriction returns. 

More than five dozen vehicles in Peterborough were towed overnight Tuesday to make room for municipal snow clearing operations.
