Global News is projecting that NDP incumbent Alistair MacGregor will hold on to his seat in the riding of Cowichan–Malahat–Langford.
This riding has only been served by MacGregor after he was first elected in 2015 and again in 2019.
As of 9:30 p.m., with 165 out of 250 polls reporting, McGregor had 42.9 per cent of the vote, with Conservative candidate Alana DeLong in second place with 27.9 per cent and Liberal Blair Herbert with 15.7 per cent.
In the election two years ago, MacGregor earned 36.2 per cent of the vote. DeLong was the runner up with 26 per cent and Green contender Lydia Hwitsum came in third with 20.2 per cent.
A large part of this riding is represented provincially by Premier John Horgan, while the other is represented by BC Green Leader Sonia Furstenau.
The federal riding covers Duncan, Lake Cowichan, North Cowichan, Langford, Highlands, the Cowichan Indian Reserve, the Penelakut Island Indian Reserve No. 7, and more.
