Global News is projecting Alex Ruff has been re-elected as the Conservative MP for Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound for a second term.
Voters in Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound elected newcomer Tory candidate Alex Ruff in 2019. He beat Liberal candidate Michael Den Tandt by 9,345 votes.
Ruff, a retired colonel in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), replaced longtime Conservative Larry Miller, who held the seat from 2006 until his retirement from politics in 2019.
The Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound riding consists of the municipalities of Arran-Elderslie and Northern Bruce Peninsula, the town of South Bruce Peninsula and parts of Grey County. It also encompasses Neyaashiinigmiing Indian Reserve No. 27 and Saugeen Indian Reserve No. 29.
A large portion of immigrants in this riding come from the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. German and Dutch make up the most common non-official mother tongues in Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound, according to the 2016 census.
Close to 46 per cent of the riding’s population has some form of post-secondary education.
