Sydney Airport in Cape Breton announced “disappointing news” on Tuesday that Air Canada’s route from Sydney to Halifax has been suspended through Feb. 1, 2021.
“Airports need airlines and their passengers in order to recover. Air sector relief must include airlines,” the airport said in a tweet.
The news comes after the airport first announced in October that the route, which been in place since 1942, was cancelled for November.
“COVID-19 has taken a tremendous toll on our airport. We need to find safe ways to move forward before the damage done is irreparable,” the airport said in a tweet in October.
