York Regional Police have released a video allegedly showing an impaired driver asleep behind the wheel in East Gwillimbury.
Police arrived to Green Lane, west of Leslie Street, on Feb. 11, after reports came in around 5 p.m. of a driver asleep in his pickup truck, the release said.
The dashcam video showed the officers arriving on scene and turning off the vehicle which police said appeared to be waiting to make a left turn into a transit station.

Officers said the driver smelled like alcohol and woke up after numerous attempts. According to police, he was placed under arrest after he blew over two-and-a-half times the legal limit.
York police described this as a “troubling trend” as the region had 29 impaired charges last week, adding to the 200 impaired-related charges so far this year.
