Orillia OPP seek driver in alleged hit-and-run

Police are searching for a driver in connection with an alleged hit-and-run in Orillia. OPP

Police are investigating an alleged hit-and-run which took place in a parking lot in Orillia last month.

According to Orillia OPP, on July 13, at around 6:30 p.m., a vehicle entered the parking lot of a business on Atherley Road and hit another vehicle.

Police say the driver was caught on surveillance footage leaving the scene.

According to police, the vehicle in question is a GMC Sierra with decals on the back.

Officers were also able to get a licence plate number and have identified the owner of the vehicle, however, police say he is avoiding them.

Officers believe the suspect may now be living in the Beaverton or Brechin areas.

Police are now appealing to the public for help in locating the driver. Anyone with information regarding the incident, or who knows where the suspect can be found, is asked to please call the Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
