Service planned for 7-year-old killed in crash on Nairn Road

A service has been planned for Aleiya Rose Hellowell-Hall, just days after a two-vehicle collision on Nairn Road took the life of the seven-year-old.

An obituary published by Gilpin Funeral Chapel describes Hellowell-Hall as “beautiful in every way… [beaming] with pride at the many loving nick names given to her including, Weezy, Leiy and Bean.”

It adds that she was a life-long animal lover with a penchant for bird-watching.

“Aleiya leaves behind her mommy, Meghan and daddy Tom, who she loved and was loved by, more than words could say.”

According to Middlesex County OPP, the fatal crash took place on Monday afternoon.  The seven-year-old and her mother were driving north on Nairn Road when a pickup truck heading south turned east in front of them onto McEwen Drive.

Police said it was at this point when the mother’s four-door vehicle crashed into the turning pickup truck, leaving Hellowell-Hall fatally injured.

The pair were brought to hospital where the seven-year-old was pronounced dead. The mother was treated and released from hospital.

The five people in the pickup were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Visitations are being held at the M. Box and Son Funeral Home in Parkhill on Saturday and Sunday, with a service being held at North Middlesex Community Centre on Sunday.

Drawings and cards from friends and classmates of Hellowell-Hall will be accepted at the visitations. The seven-year-old’s family is asking for people to bring teddy bears, which will be donated to the local emergency services to give comfort to children in a time of need.

The family adds that further donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Canadian Cancer Society can be made in Hellowell-Hall’s name
