Kelowna hosts Canada’s largest open water swim

The Interior Savings Across the Lake Swim set a record by attracting 1,036 swimmers this year.

This marks the 68th year for the event.

The 2.1 kilometre swim across Okanagan Lake offers a challenge for up-and-coming swimmers as well as veteran swimmers.

This year’s youngest competitor was seven years old; the oldest was 84.

Across the Lake Swim Society President, Mark Fromberg said the swim is a goal that a lot of people have told him are on their bucket lists.

“Some of the testimonials we get after this, I mean they’re nothing short of life changing, you know?” said Fromberg.  “Like, ‘I never thought I could do this and now I feel like I can do anything.'”
