Paula Tran

Paula Tran is an Online Journalist for Global Calgary.
Born in Montreal, Q.C., Paula spent 15 years of her life in Taiwan before moving back to Canada for university in 2014.
She soon got involved with the student paper at UBC Okanagan (UBCO), where she focused on stories about the school’s arts and culture. After graduating from UBCO, Paula attended the Master of Journalism program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University).
Throughout her time at Toronto Metropolitan University, Paula was a freelance journalist in Toronto. She then became a reporter for the Kelowna Capital News in Kelowna, B.C. where she wrote about politics, equity issues and city hall.
Her work has been featured in Xtra, QP Briefing, Spacing Indiegraf Publisher, Kelowna Capital News and many more. She specializes in power and politics, race issues, stories from the Asian diaspora, LGBTQ2S+ issues and identity politics.
