Justin Sibbet
Digital Journalist

Justin Sibbet was born and raised in Lethbridge to parents from surrounding southern Alberta towns.

He joined Global News Lethbridge as a digital journalist in the summer of 2024 after briefly working in the newspaper industry.

With Global, Justin has been able to share stories on everything from centenarian birthday parties to major search and rescue efforts and federal elections.

Justin graduated from Lethbridge College with a diploma in Digital Communications and Media, being named the Fall 2024 featured graduate. He was also the recipient of the Troy Reeb Internship, which sent him to Toronto and Ottawa to gain valuable work experience alongside seasoned Global News reporters.

Prior to entering journalism, Justin served in the military with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians), an armoured regiment in Edmonton.

He was trained as an armoured reconnaissance vehicle driver, reconnaissance soldier and drone operator. During this time, he was deployed to assist in several natural disaster relief efforts, including wildfires and floods.

After leaving the army, Justin was employed in the skilled trades in High River, working on underground water lines for an excavating company.

When not covering stories across southern Alberta, Justin spends time with his dog, Caesar, along with his friends and family.

He enjoys hiking in Waterton Lakes National Park, cheering on his many sports teams and relaxing after work.
