Sunday's search for Billie Johnson's remains falls on a day when cities across the country are recognizing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

A large search was underway for a missing woman on the western edge of Edmonton Friday, days after police charged a man with second-degree murder in her death.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the disappearance of a 30-year-old woman whose body has still not been found.

Police said Billie Wynell Johnson, 30, was last seen the evening of Dec. 24 in the area of 113 Street and 107 Avenue.

The 73-year-old was last seen walking away from her home near Lessard Drive and 57 Avenue in the Gariepy neighbourhood at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, Patricia Wendy Pangracs hasn't been heard from since June 8.

Edmonton police said Thursday evening that a 20-year-old woman, whose disappearance had been treated by them as "suspicious," was found safe and unharmed.

A missing Edmonton woman was located safe Sunday afternoon.
