Emergency crews warned motorists of icy road conditions on Tuesday morning after a motor vehicle collision blocked multiple lanes on Calgary’s ring road.
511 Alberta reported at around 9:30 a.m. that several vehicles spun out due to icy road conditions, which blocked multiple lanes on southbound Stoney Trail after McKnight Boulevard N.E.
The lanes were fully reopened at around 11:41 a.m. according to 511 Alberta.
According to the Calgary Police Service, 12 vehicles were involved in the incident.
An EMS spokesperson confirmed to QR Calgary that two people were transported in stable non-life-threatening condition.
Tow trucks and plows were being requested for the area, the spokesperson added.
One driver failed to remain on scene and officers are talking to witnesses to trying to locate the missing driver, CPS said.

The cause of the crash is not yet known but CPS said roads definitely played a factor. Driver behaviour may have also played a role.
