Two men and one woman were hospitalized in Surrey, B.C. after three separate shootings between Nov. 27 and Monday morning.
One of them has life-threatening injuries, Surrey RCMP said in a press release.
“While it is too early to conclusively determine a motive, all three shootings appear to be targeted, and investigators are exploring links to criminal activity and the drug trade,” the Mounties said Monday.
The first shooting took place on Saturday around 5 p.m. in 13300 block of 95A Avenue. Police said a 58-year-old woman was shot in the driveway and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“The shooting appears to be targeted, however the victim is not believed to be the intended target of the shooting,” said the news release.
The second victim was a 26-year-old man, who was found around 1:20 a.m. on Monday morning in the 10600 block of King George Boulevard. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries and been released from the hospital.
The third shooting took place before 3 a.m. and was flagged by Emergency Health Services.
Police said they attended the residence in the 9600 block of 137 Street and found a 45-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
“Having three shooting incidents in a short time span is concerning to both the police and the community,” said Cpl. Vanessa Munn in a news statement.
“Surrey RCMP, the Surrey Gang Enforcement Team and partners continue to work to interrupt and suppress violence associated to criminal activity and the illicit drug trade through both targeted enforcement and early intervention through education.”
A man was also shot last Thursday in the driveway of a residence in South Surrey. Police said that incident did not appear to be connected to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
