TORONTO — Harry Styles of pop group One Direction says he’s “pretty sure” he’s not bisexual.
In the new issue of British GQ, the 19-year-old singer addressed rumours that he and openly gay radio host Nick Grimshaw, 28, are a couple.
“We’re not dating, no,” he said. “We’re just friends.”
Asked if he was bisexual, Styles replied: “I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure I’m not.”
The pop star said he’s not usually bothered by rumours about his sexuality.
“The only time it gets really annoying is that if you get into a relationship and you get into a place where you really like someone and then things are being written in the papers that affect them and how they see you,” Styles explained. “Then it can get annoying.”
Several boy bands have counted at least one gay member, including New Kids on the Block, ‘N Sync, soulDecision, The Moffatts, Boyzone and Westlife.
None came out while at the height of their group’s fame.
Earlier this year, openly gay former ‘N Sync singer Lance Bass said of One Direction: “My guess is one of them is gay. Statistically speaking, one probably is.”
