It happened near the intersection of Grandview Highway and Renfrew Street just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the woman was walking along the centre median on Grandview Highway when she tried crossing through westbound traffic near Renfrew Street when she was hit.

The impact broke the driver’s-side windshield, police added.

It was dark and raining at the time.

Witnesses say the victim appeared to be unconscious when taken away in an ambulance.

The intersection was closed to traffic while police investigated.

Police said Thursday they don’t think speed or alcohol were factors, and they are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or has dashcam video to get in touch with them.
