PEACHLAND, BC — Maybe sending a distress signal wasn’t a good idea after all.
Four men are facing charges after being rescued on Okanagan Lake Monday. Police released details today.
They say at around 3:45 a.m. Monday, a Peachland resident spotted two signal flares. He called called authorities who located a stranded ski boat with four intoxicated males on board.

“The boat had a tow rope wound around the prop and was unable to move,” says Cst. Steve Holmes.
He says Search and Rescue officials found the men’s behaviour to be suspicious and called RCMP.
“Police spoke with the males, and it soon became clear that none of them owned the boat and it was discovered that the boat had been stolen previously from a slip at a West Kelowna Marina,” says Cst. Holmes.
