Sask. RCMP looking into missing man’s death, disappearance

Saskatchewan RCMP are looking into the circumstances of a missing man’s disappearance and death.

Richard Netmaker, 36, was reported missing after last being seen in an isolated area roughly three to five kilometres northwest of Big River First Nation on Jan. 6, according to a press release.

The investigation revealed the Big River First Nation man may have been assaulted, police said earlier.

Big River RCMP added that Netmaker was likely not dressed for the extremely cold temperatures.

Police later announced Netmaker was found dead in the late afternoon on Jan. 10 in the vicinity of Pekakumew Lake, which is close to where he was last seen.

An autopsy is expected to take place over the next few days to determine his cause of death. The major crime unit is investigating.

Big River First Nation is approximately 190 km north of Saskatoon.
