UPDATE: Burning body in Fish Creek Park ruled suicide

Calgary police homicide unit is investigating after a body was found in Fish Creek Provincial Park Sunday morning.

Police were called to the park at around 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 5.

According to police, the body was engulfed in flames when officers arrived on scene.

“It is not yet known if this death is criminal in nature or a result of suicide,” a CPS news release said. “An autopsy will take place to determine cause and manner of death.”

There are no suspects at this time and police are working to determine the identity of the victim, police said.

Officers closed access to the park near Bow Bottom Trail and the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant.
