UPDATE: Regina attempted murder investigation turns into a homicide case

UPDATE: The 48-year-old victim in an April 10 assault has died. Law enforcement was notified of the death on April 12.  Police already have a suspect, 19-year-old Jayshree Isiah Joel Apooch in custody. Apooch had previously been charged with assault. Police say any changes to these charges will be the result of further investigation, which has become a homicide case.

The Regina Police Service say they have made an arrest in an attempted murder investigation.

Regina police say they have charged Jayshree Isiah Joel Apooch, 19, for allegedly stabbing a 48-year-man on Wednesday.

Officers were called to the 300 block of Rae Street shortly before 2 p.m.

EMS transported the man to hospital with injuries they described as life-threatening.

Police say they were able to identity Apooch as a possible suspect.

According to police, Apooch was also involved in an alleged attempted stabbing that took place Thursday morning.

Police say they were called to the 600 block of East 4th Avenue shortly before 6:30 a.m.

Apooch fled the scene on foot, but police say they were able to apprehend him near Ross Avenue and Park Street.

According to police, Apooch is also facing charges that include assault with a weapon.

Apooch will appear in provincial court on Friday.
