Everyone from theatre buffs to outdoor enthusiasts will be happy with this weekend’s line-up of events.

2. Powerful play

This is your last weekend to take in the incredibly inspiring true story of Dragonfly by Lara Rae.

If Lara’s name sounds familiar to you, there’s a good reason why. Well, several reasons in fact.

Lara is a television and radio writer and producer, a comedian and more. She was the first transgender person to host a national news program and she’s a co-founder of the Winnipeg Comedy Festival.

She’s also a playwright and her latest project, Dragonfly is described as a raw and heartfelt story that follows Lara’s journey of discovering and becoming who she was truly meant to be.

I had the chance to meet Lara when she visited Global News Morning for an interview and she was so nice and so funny that I can’t wait to see more of her work.

You can see Dragonfly yourself, on stage at the Rachel Browne Theatre at 211 Bannatyne Avenue.

Tickets can be purchased online here or you can call 204-989-2400.

3. Kicking off cottage season

Now that the spring weather has arrived, many of us are looking forward to all the fun activities to be enjoyed outdoors, including heading out to the lake or cottage.

This weekend is your chance to get a first-hand look at what’s new and hot heading into 2019 when it comes to outdoor-living.

If you’re in the planning or building stages, or full-on renovating, or just redecorating, organizers say you’ll find ideas and inspiration all under one roof.
