Nobody is going to bring The Sheepdogs down, as the Saskatoon band picked up a nomination for “Group of the Year” at the 2019 Juno Awards. The group is also nominated for “Rock Album of the Year” with their latest release, Changing Colours.
The Sheepdogs have three previous Juno nominations and wins with their 2012 break-out album Learn and Burn.
Country music favourite Jess Moskaluke continues to add to her list of accolades now that her album “A Small Town Christmas” is nominated for “Country Album of the Year.”
This is the Langenburg, Sask. artist’s third nomination in this category and her fourth Juno nomination overall. Moskaluke previously won “Country ALbum of the Year” for her 2017 release, Kiss Me Quiet.
Rounding out the Saskatchewan nominations, Megan Nash and The Deep Dark Woods are both nominated for “Contemporary Roots Album of the Year”.
This is Nash’s first Juno nomination. Her album, Seeker, has previously earned the Mortlach, Sask. singer/songwriter acclaim, and the up-and-comer was named “Breakout Artist of the Year” at the 2017 Western Canadian Music Awards.
Saskatchewan music scene veterans The Deep Dark Woods round out the list of this province’s nominees with their fifth album Yarrow. The Saskatoon band has gained notoriety for their macabre take on Americana, previously picking up a nomination for “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the 2012 Americana Music Awards.
The Junos take place March, 17 in London, Ont.
