A 26-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing in downtown Halifax early Tuesday morning.
Halifax Regional Police say they responded to the stabbing in the 1800 block of Granville Street just before 2 a.m.
Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old man suffering from stab wounds, according to police.

A canine unit helped locate the 26-year-old suspect in the 2300 block of Brunswick Street a short time later. He has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Police say the victim remains in hospital.

Halifax police also responded to similar incident early Tuesday morning, where a man arrived at the QEII hospital with stab wounds.
“Officers confirmed an unknown person injured the male during an altercation in the 3300 block of Connaught Avenue,” police said in a news release Tuesday.
Police currently do not have a description of the suspect.
