NFL Play 60 takes place in Winnipeg

The Minnesota Vikings headed north this weekend as Winnipeg hosted their third annual NFL Play 60 Saturday. It’s the league’s way of encouraging the next generation to get active for 60 minutes a day.

Hundreds of boys and girls of all ages took part in a variety of drills and were even given some tips by three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Carl Lee.

“It’s involving kids and involving youth to have fun and get a chance to interact with former players,” Lee said.

“For us, giving back and getting a chance to be in front of kids… there’s nothing better than that.”

The kids were put through a number of combines including kicking, running routes, diving catches and even learning how to deal with media.

The players were more than happy to teach skills from beyond football.

“[Football] taught me discipline, how to be accountable, how to be a good teammate,” Minnesota Vikings fullback C.J. Ham said. “We are just trying to show these kids what it’s like to really be a part of a team.”
