REGINA – Despite it being officially spring, it still feels like winter. Which is why people are desperately hoping for a change in season could be found at Regina’s 37th annual Spring Home Show this weekend.

It’s Saskatchewan’s biggest and longest running home show, one that organizers say is attended by an average of 20,000 guests every year. On Saturday, large crowds came to check out the more than 400 exhibitors at the Canada Centre Building at Evraz Place.

“Turnout’s been very well. Of course, mother nature has not been kind to us the first two days, but everything’s been fantastic, attendees are really happy and exhibits are fantastic,” said Jason Christbason, the show’s organizer. “As we like to say, it’s the official start to spring and that’s exactly it. It’s cold outside, come in here, check out the latest and greatest in everything for your home, and that’s what makes it fun.”

Kevin Patzer was one such customer. He was relaxing on a reclining chair that was on sale.

“Oh, this is wintertime, buddy,” he said. “That’s what this [chair] is for. When you get snowblowed in, can’t get out, [all you need is a] TV, comfortable chair… good to go.”

Kyle Thompson was hired to demonstrate an indoor swimming pool – by swimming in it. Quite an enjoyable job, but still…

“I like swimming outside better,” he said.

After all, nothing beats the real thing.
