4 face charges in connection to shooting on Long Plain First Nation

Shots were fired on Long Plain First Nation Saturday afternoon according to the Dakota Ojibway Police Service. Four were later arrested in connection to the incident.

At 4:10 p.m. police received reports of shots fired on Long Plain First Nation. Police were told three or four suspects pulled up in a vehicle outside a home where five individuals were standing outside. A man got out of the vehicle and fired several shots at the group. No one was injured.

The suspects were later located at an apartment building on Long Plain First Nation. The 12 unit building was evacuated for safety reasons.

Just before 8 p.m. five people were taken into custody without incident. Manitoba RCMP’s Emergency Response Team assisted with the arrests.

On Sunday, charges were laid against four of those arrested.

Clinton Longclaws, 42, William Longclaws, 36, Stacey Longclaws, 40, and Carolyn Smoke, 40, are facing charges of discharging a firearm with intent, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
