RCMP investigate swarming attack in southern Alberta

Police are looking to the public for help as they investigate a swarming attack in Okotoks, Alta.

It happened on the pedestrian bridge which crosses over the Sheep River, just south of the Okotoks Public Library, at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20.

RCMP said the victim, a 19-year-old woman, was assaulted by a large group of teens.

The victim indicated about 10 boys and one girl participated in the attack.

“The reason for the assault is unknown and the matter is currently under investigation,” RCMP said in a Wednesday news release.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

According to the RCMP, the female suspect was described as being short with wider shoulders and a skinny waist, with long blond curly hair.

The town of Okotoks is located about 18 kilometres south of Calgary.
