WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added a little more local flavour by signing defensive back Donovan Alexander.
The Winnipegger was recently released by the Edmonton Eskimos after three seasons with the club. Alexander spent most of his time in Edmonton at the safety position, making 121 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles and seven interceptions in 51 regular-season games and three playoff contests.

Prior to joining the Eskimos, the 28-year-old played two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders at cornerback, appearing in the Grey Cup game each year.

Alexander was originally drafted in the third round of the 2007 CFL Draft by the Montreal Alouettes. He grew up in Winnipeg, playing high school football at St. Paul’s before attending college at the University of North Dakota. Alexander has also spent some time with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.
