Lauper wrote the music and lyrics, Harvey Fierstein penned the book and Jerry Mitchell directed and choreographed.

Mirvish says auditions for the cast will begin shortly.

The show is one of 16 Mirvish announced Wednesday for its 2014-15 theatre season, which will have seven productions in the Mainstage Subscription Series.

Also among them is Disney’s Tony-winning Newsies, which will play at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in July/August 2015.

The Mainstage Series also has three shows that hail from England: The Heart of Robin Hood (December 2014/January 2015), Our Country’s Good! (September/October) and the previously announced Titanic (July/August).

Rounding out the series are the Shaw Festival’s 2013 hit Arcadia (November/December) and a yet-to-be-announced new musical.

The lineup also has three Off-Mirvish season shows, including Tony-winning comedy play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.

And there will be six “bonus shows,” including the returns of several hits as well as the Toronto premieres of two new shows, Quebec’s Return to Grace and Australia’s Dinosaur Zoo Live.
