A man is dead after a shooting in Surrey’s Fleetwood neighbourhood Wednesday afternoon.
The Surrey Police Service says that RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit frontline officers were called to reports of a shooting outside a commercial building in the 15900 block of 84 Avenue at 3:45 p.m.
Other agencies also attended, including SPS officers, emergency response team members, and paramedics.
At the scene, police discovered one man suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Despite life-saving measures being performed, he succumbed to his injuries on scene.
“The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken conduct of this investigation,” said the department in a statement.
“The investigation is in the early stages and IHIT is working in partnership with Surrey Police Service and RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit officers to complete priority tasks.”
Police add that while the motive remains under investigation, the shooting does not appear to be linked to any ongoing investigations.
The death is Surrey’s third homicide of 2025.
No arrest has been made in the case.
