Toronto police said the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old Toronto boy in the city’s north end Saturday morning appears to be deliberate.
“I can say at this point with the information we have available to us at this time, I believe it was a targeted shooting,” Toronto police homicide squad Det. Sgt. Mike Carbone said during an update Saturday evening.
Carbone said the victim, Caheem “Clayshawn” Ramsuchit, was visiting friends outside of a townhouse unit on Shoreham Court, east of Jane Street and south of Steeles Avenue West, before 12 p.m. when multiple shots were fired.
Ramsuchit was driven to hospital where he later died.
Carbone said officers are in the process of collecting evidence and canvassing the neighbourhood for information and surveillance video.
He said two people were seen arriving and leaving the scene in a darker-coloured SUV, but police haven’t released detailed suspect information.
Carbone said the victim wasn’t known to police.
