Dolan, Maslany nominated for Dorian Awards

TORONTO — Montreal filmmaker Xavier Dolan and Regina actress Tatiana Maslany are nominated for Dorian Awards, which are handed out by the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association.

Dolan is nominated in the Wilde Artist of the Year category and his drama Laurence Anyways is up for Film of the Year, LGBT Film of the Year, Foreign Language Film of the Year and Visually Striking Film of the Year.

Laurence Anyways will compete for Film of the Year and LGBT Film of the Year with Dallas Buyers Club, directed by Quebec’s Jean-Marc Vallée.

Maslany, star of Orphan Black, is nominated for TV Performance of the Year – Actress and the We’re Wilde About You Rising Star Award. The made-in-Toronto Orphan Black is a contender for Unsung TV Show of the Year.

The Toronto-shot horror reboot Carrie earned a nomination in the Campy Flick of the Year category.

Other nominees for the Dorian Awards include James Franco (Spring Breakers), Sandra Bullock (Gravity), the TV movie Behind the Candelabra and the animated feature Frozen. Click here for a full list of nominations.

Lily Tomlin will be honoured with the Timeless Award.

Winners will be announced Jan. 21.
