The central Okanagan is a testing ground for a new program to help ease the doctor shortage
Some relief may be on the way for Okanagan residents without a family doctor thanks to a new program involving nurses. As many Okanagan residents know, finding a family doctor can be very challenging. According to the Central Okanagan Division of Family Practice, 20 per cent of Okanagan residents are without a GP. Now the central Okanagan is a testing ground for a new program funded by the Ministry of Health that has nurses working out of doctor offices.
