Description

On this day, Sept. 11, 2001, the world as we knew it was irrevocably changed. Coordinated attacks on the United States claimed thousands of lives. The immediate impact reverberating across the globe. On 9/11, four hijacked passenger planes became weapons, crashing into the iconic Twin Towers in lower Manhattan, the Pentagon near the U.S. Capitol, and in a field near Shanksville, Penn. As Candice Cole reports, ceremonies were held across the United States and Canada on Friday remembering the nearly 3,000 people lost on that fateful day. In the aftermath of 9/11, Canadians and Americans stood side-by-side in both war and in sorrow. A quarter century later that bond is being tested in new ways. Eric Sorensen reports on the role Canadians played then and how our relationship with the United States has since changed.
