The Green Line LRT alignment would make way for trains to travel at street level down 10 Avenue S.W. with the line ending at a station between 1 and 2 Street S.W. in downtown.

Earlier this month, a city committee endorsed a surface alignment into Calgary's downtown core along 10 Avenue S.W. instead of an elevated track.

The new library at the Symons Valley Centre in Calgary's northwest community of Sage Hill is expected to be complete in mid-2028.

It comes after Calgary city council voted to write a letter to the province asking for an investigation into the leak of confidential budget documents.

According to the report, Calgary must build between 23,000 and 24,000 total new housing starts annually over the next 10 years to close the gap.

Calgary mayor Jeromy Farkas said the city's $50 billion infrastructure deficit "won't dissapear" in a single budget or council term, but noted council must chip away at it.

Preliminary budget documents obtained by Global News show a large property tax increase would be required to pay for the funding requests in front of Calgary city council.

'This is a wishlist. Everybody comes out of the woodwork around budget time and asks for all of the stuff,' Mayor Jeromy Farkas told reporters Thursday.

The figures were included in a number of confidential, preliminary budget documents obtained by Global News after being presented to Calgary city council earlier this summer.

The list of the highest-risk intersections comes after the City of Calgary used AI to assess and assign a risk score to more than 17,000 intersections across the city.
