The Calgary Police Service is investigating how a person died at the Erlton/Stampede CTrain station early Friday.
Police said that at about 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the LRT station after someone reported that a pedestrian had been struck by a train. The pedestrian, a man police believe was in his 20s or 30s, was pronounced dead.

A midday update from CPS said they believe a pedestrian was crossing the tracks at the southern crossing of the station when he slipped and fell.
“He was then struck by an inbound train and sustained fatal injuries,” police said in a statement. “All crossing signs and lights were operating correctly at the time of the collision.”
Police said they have deemed the death to be non-criminal in nature.

The CPS said traffic was disrupted for several hours in the area but had returned to normal by 7 a.m.
