York Regional Police say a woman has undergone emergency surgery following and hit-and-run in Vaughan on Tuesday night.
Emergency crews were called to Townsgate Drive, just north of Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue, at around 8:30 p.m. for reports of a pedestrian-involved collision.

YRP Staff Sgt. Stephen Yan told reporters a woman was crossing Townsgate Drive when she was struck by a dark-coloured SUV travelling eastbound.
She was taken to hospital with serious injuries and had to get emergency surgery.

Police said the vehicle did not remain at the scene of the collision and drove off.
Investigators are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
