Police are investigating a sudden death in Oshawa, Ont.
Durham Regional Police said officers are in the area of Drew Street and Olive Avenue area on Friday for an “ongoing sudden death investigation.”
Police said officers were called to a unit on Drew Street for a wellness check.
The force said when officers arrived, a body was discovered inside a modular home.
Officers would not confirm whether the person was an occupant, or if anyone else was found in the unit at the time.
However, Global News has confirmed the victim was a client of cornerstone, a local organization that helps the unhoused find a home.
The modular homes were set up last year. With the hopes of getting more people off the street.
A forensics team is now on scene collecting evidence to try and find out how the victim died. At this time police have only called the incident a sudden death.
In a tweet, police asked the public to “please avoid the area.”
