Three pets are dead after a house fire in London, Ont., according to officials.
Fire crews with the London Fire Department were called to a blaze at 63 Guildford Crescent Sunday morning around 2:30 a.m.
Two residents were able to escape.
One person was assessed by paramedics. Their condition is unknown.
“They had their two dogs with them, however, two cats and a bird did perish,” platoon chief Colin Shewell told 980 CFPL.
The cause of the fire is believed to be a firepit in or around a wood deck and a gazebo area.
“We want to remind everyone (to) have a firepit on a combustible surface such as wood. We need to make sure there’s sufficient space between those items to make sure you can enjoy your fire safely.”
Damage is pegged at $250,000.
