A 14-year-old boy has been charged after a TTC operator was stabbed multiple times on Wednesday, Toronto police say.
Police said officers responded to the area of Keele Street and Gulliver Road shortly before 1 p.m.
Duty Insp. Richard Harris told reporters Wednesday that the victim, a man in his early 50s, was stabbed as a result of a fare dispute.
He said the operator got into an argument with four to five people, stopped the bus, and was stabbed outside of the vehicle.
Harris said the “individual who committed the stabbing is a young male.”
In a news release issued Thursday, police said the group attacked the victim and during the attack, he was stabbed.
A 14-year-old Toronto boy has been charged with aggravated assault. He appeared in court Thursday.
Police said they’re still seeking two other teen suspects.
The operator was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
