Saskatoon Business College kicks off Shinerama

SASKATOON – Tomorrow Sept. 12 marks the 28th annual Shinerama Shine Day for the Saskatoon Business College (SBC).

SBC students have participated every year raising money for Cystic Fibrosis research.

Students can be seen around the city tomorrow shining shoes and vehicles.

Mayor Don Atchison kicked off the event Sept. 11, by getting his shoes shined at city hall.

The college has what they’re calling an ambitious goal to raise $26,000 dollars, breaking all their previous fundraising records.

Students have already raised nearly $12,000 through online donations and fundraising events.

“I’m going to wax my chest if we reach our goal,” said student Bryce Erhardt.

SBC has raised nearly half a million dollars in 27 years.

The University of Saskatchewan’s physical therapy program is also participating, aiming to raise $25,000.

Shinerama is a national event and is the largest post-secondary school fundraiser in the country, having raised $23.5 million.

Online donations can be made until December.
