At the time, RCMP say they evaluated the area and discovered “the cottage had been broken into, items had been removed and the fire was deliberately set.”

RCMP also say after canvassing the area they learned five neighbouring cottages either showed signs of attempted break-in or had been broken into.

While it took six years, RCMP finally arrested and laid charges against the two men, who were 20 at the time of the fire.
